Pokémon Go Pokécoin

Who could not have missed the release of Pokémon Go recently which has sent the worlds population into a collect 'em all frenzy.

I will probably do a whole host of 3D designs inspired from the game. Here is my first: The Pokémon Go Pokécoin!

To begin with I take the original bitmap image and convert it to a 3D STL format file. This process creates a very rough looking 3D model from the image which I will use to sketch around later on.

Initial 2D to 3D Conversion

Now I sketch around the main Pikachu character on the coin:

All that is left is to create a basic coin shape and extrude the Pikachu sketch on top!

The Final Design

With the design completed we are ready to print! The choice of plastic was a simple gold colour PLA plastic which I think looks great for this sort of item.
